From MNI:
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid blasted Republicans Monday for delaying progress during negotiations on a payroll tax cut extension package and said he will offer an alternative package if the talks fail to make progress soon.
In remarks on the Senate floor, Reid said he is “dismayed” by reports that congressional Republicans are deeply divided over the merits of a payroll tax cut package and this [is] making the negotiations more difficult.
Remember, Congress extended the payroll tax cut and extended unemployment benefits back in December, but only for two months, with the assumption that an extension for the rest of the year would be quietly wrapped up in February.
And it probably will be wrapped up, but... obviously not before a fresh round of teeth pulling in DC. Just what the economy ordered.
